As I was looking for a suitable topic to write about, I had so many thoughts going on in my mind..but just couldn’t zero down on the best one…
And then suddenly my gmail signature caught my attention..it says..”Life is beautiful”…and voila!! I got my topic…LIFE!!! What better way to start the new month than to write about the very essence of our existence..our life!!
A friend once asked me…’What is life?’….sounds like a philosophical question…but I have a simple answer for it…Life is whatever YOU want it to be!!! YOU are the power in your life!!! No one else but only you have control over your life….
Doesnt sound right??? Wondering that how can ‘poor me’ have control over my life?? I don’t have any control over my irritating boss or stupid friend etc etc etc.
Well, I have heard a lot of all that before and that in no way changes the truth. The fact remains that while a lot in our life is outside our control(this warrants a post of its own, so will keep this aside for the time being), A LOT is within our control too! We do have control over many things that we invite in our life and we exercise this control by the choices we make . If we choose to believe life is beautiful, we invite all the beauty of life right at our doorstep….and if we choose to believe life sucks!!..well…then thats what we will experience!!!
Law of attraction is a Universal Law which says what you think is what you get!! Though i’ll modify it a little to say..”What you choose to believe is what you get!!” Our thoughts send out vibrations into universe and we attract incidents/people/objects that resonate with that frequency.
A client once came to me for therapy complaining about her boss who would find fault in everything that she did, however good she may perform. And before I could even start the session, she went on to say that once her boss improves she would finally get time to join gym coz she hated her ‘plump’ self ( she was 5’3” weighing 45 Kgs!!!).Without digging deep in the therapy, the answer was right in front of me. She was so busy finding faults in herself that she continuously sent out the vibration of ‘I am not good enough’ and ended up attracting a boss who just reinforced this belief.
We worked together to release this belief and self hatred from her and taught her how to accept herself as she was and things started changing for her. Within 1 week she called me to tell how her boss had been transferred to another office and was looking forward to her new boss!!
This is just one of the many examples of how we can change the situations in our life by our own thinking, even if they may involve the so called ‘external factors’. These external factors are just a reflection of our inner world. Every object in our surrounding is there for a reason and connected to us by the obligation to teach us a lesson. The moment we choose to complete that lesson gracefully, the obligation is completed and the need of that situation/person in our life is over. So either the situation/person will change or simply move out of our life or you may stop getting bothered by it!
We may not always be able to control the events that happens in our life, but we can surely control the impact that they make on us through our choices and beliefs.
It may not be easy, but its surely worth it!
Heres a simple exercise that you can do to implement the message of this blog into your life:
Working Tip: Think about a situation/person that is troubling you the most. Close your eyes and take 3 deep breaths. Now analyze, what is this situation/person teaching you? What is it making you do that you may not do otherwise..like speaking up for yourself or taking responsibility of your stuff or any other such thing. Keeping your eyes closed imagine the situation/person in front of you and say “ I release you from the obligation of teaching me the lesson of ( specify your lesson ) and I now choose to learn this lesson in an easy and graceful manner. I thank you for teaching this to me”.
Now think of the situation in your life where you need to apply this teaching but you have been stopping yourself from doing so due to certain fear of consequence or other apprehensions. Take a concrete action to apply the learning in that situation. Just take the next step and you’ll see all your apprehensions fading and your life changing for better.
