DO YOU FEEL UNFULFILLED INSPITE OF ‘HAVING IT ALL’?

You are not alone and certainly not wrong! I receive a lot of messages from people seeking advice on what to do to tackle the emptiness that they feel inside, inspite of everything going good for them.

You can have the seemingly perfect life – a body that can carry you through a gruelling HIIT workout class, a job that gets the bills paid on times, and awesome people who love you – YET, you may feel empty inside.

Ask yourself these questions to discover your reasons and also understand ways to resolve them:

1. Hows the JOSH?
Do you find your life too monotonous? It could be the reason behind your boredom and feeling of emptiness. Having nothing to look forward to and losing excitement in life can make you feel sad in spite of everything going alright.

To break this pattern, learn something new and take on a new challenge. Any new skill, recipe, dance or puzzle can do the trick for you.

2. Whats YOUR standard?
No matter how good of a family, house, job or even a partner you have, you are always feeling unsatisfied. This is because you have envisioned living your life with a certain standard and nothing below that seems to satisfy you.

Spend some time with yourself to evaluate your standards. Where are they coming from and do you really want to keep running after them?

3. Who CONTROLS your life?
A lot of the times you get tired of doing the right things and everything that people expect you to do. Losing your control over your decisions can make you feel like a puppet. A life when somebody else decides to do everything for you, can create unpleasant feelings for you.

Steer your life in the direction that you want and not what is expected from you. This will reconnect you to your true self and is truly liberating.

4. When will it be MY turn?
When we are constantly looking at other people’s life and waiting to be served what they have, instead of focussing on our plate, we are signing up for disaster.
Everyone’s life and circumstances are different and what you see is just a small portion of their complete story.
Instead of continuously comparing your life with that of others’ focus on the life you have and get involved with it. You never know what magic recipe you may create with the ingredients you have!

5. Where’s the SUNSHINE?
This may sound strange, but lack of sunshine can play havoc with your mental health and give you emotions and feeling which transcend beyond logical explanations.

Give yourself adequate dose of sunshine and let your brain enjoy the much-needed serotonin.

Always remember – Its ok to feel low from time to time. However, if inspite of your best efforts you experience persistent lows that wrap around you like a heavy blanket, muffling the sensations and joy of everyday life – please seek help from a mental health professional to find your way out from this maze and reclaim your beautiful life.

Life!!

blog - Law of attraction

As I was looking for a suitable topic to write about, I had so many thoughts going on in my mind..but just couldn’t zero down on the best one…

And then suddenly my gmail signature caught my attention..it says..”Life is beautiful”…and voila!! I got my topic…LIFE!!! What better way to start the new month than to write about the very essence of our existence..our life!!

A friend once asked me…’What is life?’….sounds like a philosophical question…but I have a simple answer for it…Life is whatever YOU want it to be!!! YOU are the power in your life!!! No one else but only you have control over your life….

Doesnt sound right??? Wondering that how can ‘poor me’ have control over my life?? I don’t have any control over my irritating boss or stupid friend etc etc etc.

Well, I have heard a lot of all that before and that in no way changes the truth. The fact remains that while a lot in our life is outside our control(this warrants a post of its own, so will keep this aside for the time being), A LOT is within our control too! We do have control over many things that we invite in our life and we exercise this control by the choices we make . If we choose to believe life is beautiful, we invite all the beauty of life right at our doorstep….and if we choose to believe life sucks!!..well…then thats what we will experience!!!

Law of attraction is a Universal Law which says what you think is what you get!! Though i’ll modify it a little to say..”What you choose to believe is what you get!!” Our thoughts send out vibrations into universe and we attract incidents/people/objects that resonate with that frequency.

A client once came to me for therapy complaining about her boss who would find fault in everything that she did, however good she may perform. And before I could even start the session, she went on to say that once her boss improves she would finally get time to join gym coz she hated her ‘plump’ self ( she was 5’3” weighing 45 Kgs!!!).Without digging deep in the therapy, the answer was right in front of me. She was so busy finding faults in herself that she continuously sent out the vibration of ‘I am not good enough’ and ended up attracting a boss who just reinforced this belief.

We worked together to release this belief and self hatred from her and taught her how to accept herself as she was and things started changing for her. Within 1 week she called me to tell how her boss had been transferred to another office and was looking forward to her new boss!!

This is just one of the many examples of how we can change the situations in our life by our own thinking, even if they may involve the so called ‘external factors’. These external factors are just a reflection of our inner world. Every object in our surrounding is there for a reason and connected to us by the obligation to teach us a lesson. The moment we choose to complete that lesson gracefully, the obligation is completed and the need of that situation/person in our life is over. So either the situation/person will change or simply move out of our life or you may stop getting bothered by it!

We may not always be able to control the events that happens in our life, but we can surely control the impact that they make on us through our choices and beliefs.

It may not be easy, but its surely worth it!

Heres a simple exercise that you can do to implement the message of this blog into your life:

Working Tip: Think about a situation/person that is troubling you the most. Close your eyes and take 3 deep breaths. Now analyze, what is this situation/person teaching you? What is it making you do that you may not do otherwise..like speaking up for yourself or taking responsibility of your stuff or any other such thing. Keeping your eyes closed imagine the situation/person in front of you and say “ I release you from the obligation of teaching me the lesson of (       specify your lesson      ) and I now choose to learn this lesson in an easy and graceful manner. I thank you for teaching this to me”.

Now think of the situation in your life where you need to apply this teaching but you have been stopping yourself from doing so due to certain fear of consequence or other apprehensions. Take a concrete action to apply the learning in that situation. Just take the next step and you’ll see all your apprehensions fading and your life changing for better.

The Purpose Of Life

The Purpose of Life - Blog

A friend recently asked me.. “will ThetaHealing help me find purpose of my life?” Well, the question really didn’t amaze me…Finding our life’s purpose seems to be the biggest tryst haunting many people around us.

The question is very much relevant and important for our existence. However the real plague in this question is our definition and perception of purpose!!! We are all looking for a purpose that’s ‘great’ or ‘socially exciting’…… If someone tells us that our life’s purpose is to write a book or perform any other life altering task….the answer makes us very happy because it reinforces that we are born to do something ‘worthwhile’ …However if we are told that the life we are leading right now along with the tasks we are currently performing is our life’s true purpose…it disappoints us..as it appears too ‘normal’ and boring.

We are soooo obsessed with having a purpose in our life that we end up degrading our very existence. Many times our existence itself is our purpose in life. Life’s purpose doesn’t always mean that we go out and perform a task for the world to see or proactively influence someone’s life.

The Sun just rises every morning….and whatever lives are meant to get influenced by that….they do that on their own. The Sun doesn’t knock at every door saying “hey wake up..I am here”…Nor does it prod every plant to utilize its rays lest his purpose may remain unfulfilled. The Sun just exists…in all its glory without worrying about the lives it changes..for good or worse..as that very existence is Sun’s purpose.

Same holds true for us too….Our Life’s purpose is just our reason to live…a reason that makes us get up from the bed…it could be an external one like family/work etc or even an internal one like just being happy to be alive!!

We don’t create the purpose or meaning of our life…we already have it….we just discover it…All of us have a unique reason for being, and it can adjust and change many times over the years. The real meaning of life is to be alive and experience life to the maximum!!

Its so plain and so simple and so obvious…yet everyone rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves!!

Many times our search for an exciting purpose in our life makes us believe that our life doesn’t have a purpose only! I have heard so many of my clients say…” It seems I am just existing…it all seems so futile”. My question to them always is…” Why do you not commit suicide?”….and before I can even complete my question, pat comes the reply..” No No….then who will take care of my kids?/ my spouse will be left alone?/What about my old parents? Etc etc etc…”

So you are a good mother/father to your kids….their friend, philosopher and guide…..an eternal companion to your spouse….A loving and caring child to your parents….and you are still looking for  a purpose in your life?

Its good to look out for your life purpose as it will motivate you to press forward, breaking the mental chains of the past. However if ‘not knowing your purpose in life’ is making you anxious leading to a feeling of emptiness inside …it’s a problem… if your quest is crippling you and leading you to existential frustration or should I say existential crisis…then its time to stop and look back…

Looking back at your life….at the people whose lives you have touched…will connect you back to your life’s purpose and that moment will put an end to your emptiness and frustration.

I am reminded of a very beautiful quote is doing the rounds of social media these days:

How cool is it that the same God, who created mountains, oceans and galaxies, looked at you and thought that the world needed one of you too…

This quote pretty much answers your existential queries and fills the void that you may be feeling within.

The Universe crafted you with lots of love  and put you on this planet surely for a reason….and you are already on the path of accomplishing it…whether you may identify it yet or not…Its just a matter of time….Till then ‘Hang On’ and just enjoy Universe’s amazing work of art..thats YOU!!
